Schlafen in Wien

It was Friday the 6th of November at the Hotel Fürstenhof in the 7th district in Vienna where an exhibition of another kind took place.
Schlafen in Wien(sleeping in Vienna) from various artists. They spend 48 hours straight in the Hotel and try to live a life without leaders and any rules besides these:

1. All actions taking place in the different rooms have to be done in a way that a sleepy person is able to sleep

2. Every artist that rented a room, has to be present 48 hours long and has to be able to lead structural and open performances.

3. All rooms have to be open to public all the time, but are also allowed to be closed(the doors)

It was a very interesting evening with many many interesting people, artists and philosophers.
such as:
room 53 - Hautzinger
room 54 - Hauser/Holzer
room 48 - C.C.C.W.
room 49 - bartleby & co
room 50 - das Schaufenster
room 51 - trau schau fremo
room 52 - Fritz Ostermayer & Friends

enjoy the pics.

Jimmy - booooring - choo for H&M

Talking to a model

Florian Pessenteiner is the second model we interviewed for our new column of "talking to a Model".We saw him in Zink Magazine and really liked his attitude/strong look. Here you go. enjoy

When did you decide to take up modeling, or did you even decide your self?
The whole modelling thing started on a trip to Switzerland , when i got scouted on the street while waiting for a bus with my mum ! I got asked if i was interested in doing modelling .. so i signed a contract with my agency in Zurich and that's actually how it started.
I saw that you had few cool editorials in the last time, for Zink Magazine, Indie Magazine for instance. how is your career going now?
At the moment my career is going pretty well I have to say ... Fashion Week here in London is just over , and I had an amazing time . It keeps me busy and as it seem right now I will be busy for the next couple of months . It has been a bit quite over the summer I have to say which was not too bad , coz I took a short break . After Paris Fashion week and travelling to Berlin , Amsterdam , Stockholm and even Serbia i took a short break , just to relax and to rest . After I decided to start again , which was just after 3 weeks , jobs were coming in and I was back to the routine :)
What was you favorite job you had so far?
Hmm that is really really hard to say . My latest projects were all amazing , and all amazing in different ways ... I really enjoyed working with joost vandeborg , doing a short film for a Museum in Amsterdam.

Did you have any bad experiences to?
I think in every job u have bad and good experiences . But the good ones seem to overtake the bad ones when u know with whom u want to work with and for what you're working.
Where do you live at the moment?Do you like it there?
My home at the moment is London. I already live here for about 1 1/2 years and I love it. I have a house in East London which is typical English and I just cant imagine to be somewhere else. Eventually New York is calling. So I will see how long ill be in London for.
Now, besides Modeling do you have any other project that you do for living?
I used to work in retail in the beginning when i came to London. Due to the fact that I cant do something else because of not having time I got back to Full Time Modelling atm . Apart from that I do styling as well, which I love to do . I actually did style my first show during London fw this season.

Do you have a favourite model?
Erm to be honest i dont really have a favorite model. But I really like the work of Sasha P and Jessica S.

Designer?
I have a few favourite Designers... Rick Owens , Jean Pierre Braganza , Gareth Pugh , and loads more

What is your favourite cocktail?
My favourite cocktail is ... erm a long island ice tea :phahahaha

Thank you so much for your time. we wish you all the best!

ARS review

As promised, though it is not sunday, here a review from the ARS electronica festival in Linz last week.
Dough&Fruit were invited to attend the festival, to our pitty it was only possible for us to be there one day.

Anyhow we knew the ARS from the time before it was reopened and never really liked being there.
This changed as we walked into the new builing and stood impressed in the massive entry hall.
But this was only the beginning of a long day full of "oohs" and "aaahs".
We think that the festival was a success although many critics say it was lame and to unorganized. What ever! We had fun!. enjoy the pictures.

ARS Festival

Within a few years, Ars Electronica developed into one of the world’s foremost media art festivals. And its growing success was paralleled by the expansion of its annual lineup of events. The 1979 festival proudly presented 20 artists and scientists; in 2008, no fewer than 484 speakers and artists from 25 countries were in attendance.

Dough&Fruit will be present and we will give you a full feedback with pictures on sunday.

Talking to a Model

Now this here is the first interview of many to come. Dough&Fruit is going to interview more models from now on.

When i saw the picture of Dunja in a Magazine the idea came to me to interview her. i have to admit it took a long time to get everything together for the interview and i must say that it was mainly my fault *haha*.

But anyway here is an awesome women working in the Model business.

Name: Dunja K.
height: 178cm
eyes: brown
hair: dark brown
Angency: FM London

Tell me about you. where are you from?

I was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina, however left there when I was 10 years old due to the civil war.
About me? I am highly political, and a touch opinionated, but very chilled and easy going at the same time. Yes, I know that sounds strange.

How did you get to modeling and when?

I was 15 when I was first approached by an agent, after watching a fashion show with my mum, in Australia. I didn’t really believe that I could do modeling, and so didn’t go into the agency until I was 18. Even then I didn’t start doing full time modeling until I was 21, after finishing university.

Are you a full-time model or do you have other projects?

I am a full time model, however I’m also the vice chair of the models committee at the trade union Equity, committed to improving working conditions in the fashion industry.

What was you favorite job you had so far?

I have to say my favorite, though it’s very hard to choose, would be an editorial I shot for Harper’s Baazar with a photographer I hugely admire and respect, Sam Haskins.

As i recall you live in London, would you say London is a good basis to start modeling?

I would, yeah, having had experience in a few different fashion cities, London for me holds some of the nicest people in fashion, most professional and easy to get along with.

Your Opinion on the "models are way to thin" subject!?

I’d say the samples are way too small! I’ve been doing modeling, part time and full time for nearly ten years now, and I have witnessed models and sample sizes shrinking each year. I understand that we cannot have models from size 6 to 16, since it is too costly to have samples of a few different sizes, but we still need some variety. It’s really quite ridiculous to only make size 6 samples .

Did you have any bad experience in your career if yes do you want to share it with us?

I have had some bad experience, as you do in any job, mostly to do with health and safety, and a particular overseas agency. My biggest concern is not having a bad experience, it’s bound to happen every now and then, but having the support and tools to deal with the issue in the appropriate manner.

What is you favourite food?

Mmm, Thai green curry… dribble

Favourite movie?

Tough one, it’s a tie between Time of the Gypsies by Emir Kusturica, and The Reader

What is your advice for young models who have just started to, or want to become a model(besides the "be your self, be natural" blah blah)?

Know yourself and what makes you happy, know what type of modeling you want to do, steer your own career, and take advice, but with a pinch of salt.

Thank you so much for your time Dunja!

God save the Queen

Well i am quite sure that God would save her from any threat if we could get his hands on one of Jimmie+Martins furniture pieces!

The design dou from London started Jimmie+Martin Ltd in 2004 and have been successful ever since.
2005 they won the award for "New Designer in Practice" at the Design and Decoration awards.

For us Jimmie+martin create furniture like non other. The style is very unique and perfect. It fits into this time where Furniture but also fashion tends to take old and combine or create new.

Two components joined together as a symbiotic ONE! i want to have the black chair that used to be blue.

We love it! Jimmie+Martin get 5 out of 5 kisses from us.
